Masoor Dal and Palak Khichdi Recipe

Masoor Dal and Palak Khichdi is a healthy twist of regular Khichdi. High in protein, this dish is prefect for growing kid’s and the best way to include green leafy vegetable in your meal. This dish is very easy to prepare and prefect for weekdays lunch or dinner. Try this healthy and easy Khichdi recipe at your home.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cuprice (chawal), washed and drained
- 1/2 cupmasoor dal (split red lentil), washed and drained
- 1 cupchopped spinach (palak)
- 1 tbspoil
- 1 tspcumin seeds (jeera)
- 1/4 tspasafoetida (hing)
- 1 tspgreen chili paste
- 1/4 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
- 1/2 cuppeeled potato cubes
- saltto taste
Directions
- Heat the oil in a pressure cooker and add the cumin seeds and when the seeds crackle, add the asafoetida, green chili paste and turmeric powder and fry on a medium flame for 30 seconds.
- Add the spinach and potatoes, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes and stir occasionally.
- Add the rice, masoor dal, salt and 3 cups of water, mix it well and cook for 25 min and switch off the flame and allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
- Serve it with any raita of your choice and complete a hearty meal.
