Broken Wheat and Green Moong Dal Khichdi Recipe

Broken Wheat and Green Moong Dal Khichdi is a perfect one-dish meal. It has a great flavor and nutrition and also a very tempting dish. This Khichdi is a healthy twist of regular Khichdi and it is a light meal and easy to prepare. This dish is more tasty has is is loaded with various vegetables.
Ingredients
- 1 cupBroken wheat rava (dalia), lightly roasted, washed and drained
- 1/2 cupGreen Moong Dal (Whole), lightly roasted and soaked in water for 30 minutes
- 1Onion, finely chopped
- 4Garlic
- 1/4 cupGreen beans (French Beans), finely chopped
- 1Carrot, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoonGhee
- 1/2 teaspoonMustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoonCumin seeds
- 5-6Curry leaves, torn with hands
- 1/2 inchGinger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoonTurmeric powder (Haldi)
- 1/4 teaspoonAsafoetida (hing)
- 3-4Green Chilies
- a fewMint Leaves (Pudina) sprigs chopped
- 1 teaspoonLemon juice
Directions
- In a mortar and pestle, add the garlic cloves, cumin seeds and green chilies and crush it and keep it aside.
- Heat oil or ghee in a pressure cooker and add mustard seeds and once they crackle, add the crushed garlic-cumin-chillies, and curry leaves.
- Fry for a few second and then add the onion and fry for a minute and then add turmeric powder, asafoetida and ginger and mix it nicely. and add all the vegetables.
- Add carrot and beans and fry for a minute and then add the dalia and green moong.
- Add enough water and mix it well and sprinkle some salt and cook it on a medium flame for 25 min and switch off the flame.
- Garnish it with chopped mint and coriander leaves, lime juice and serve it hot with raita.
