Tasty Lemon Rasam Recipe

Lemon Rasam is a popular South Indian household recipe. This rasam is flavored with lemon. It contains a good amount of protein, light on tummy and perfect for any season. This dish tastes best with hot rice. Let’s learn this tasty rasam recipe.
Ingredients
- 1medium sized tomato, roughly chopped
- 1 inchginger, finely chopped
- fewcurry leaves / kadi patta
- 1green chili, slit lengthwise
- 3 tbspcoriander leaves / daniya patta, finely chopped
- ½ tspturmeric / haldi
- 4 cupwater, add as required
- 1 cupcooked toor dal( in a pressure cooker add the add dal with enough water and cook till soft)
- saltto taste
- ½lemon
for tempering
- 1 tbspghee / clarified butter
- 1 tspmustard / rai
- ½ tspcumin / jeera
- 1dried red chili, broken
- fewcurry leaves / kadi patta
- pinchof asafoetida / hing
- ½ tsppepper, crushed
Directions
- In a deep pan add tomatoes, ginger, chili, coriander leaves, and curry leaves and also add turmeric and water and cook for 10 min or until tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
- Add pressure cooked toor dal, salt, and water as needed and cook on a low flame.
- Meanwhile, heat a pan with ghee and add mustard seeds, cumin, red chili, curry leaves, asafoetida and pepper and fry for a second
- Pour the tempering into the tomato and dal mixture and mix it nicely and cook on low flame for a second
- Switch off the flame and squeeze the lemon juice and mix it well and serve it hot with rice.
