Andhra Tomato Sambar

Ingredients
- Oil
- Tomato
- Green Chilli
- Tamarind Pulp
- Saltto taste
- Sugar
- Turmeric Powder/Manjal Podi
- Coriander Leaves Handful chopped
- 2-5 cupsWater as Needed
For Grinding:
- 2 tablespoons gratedCoconut
- 1 tablespoonWhole Black Pepper
- 1 tablespoonCumin Seeds/Jeera
- 1 tablespoonWhole Coriander Seeds/Thania
- 3-4Dry Red Chili
- 6large clovesGarlic
For Seasoning:
- 1 tablespoonOil
- 1/2 tablespoonMustard Seeds/kaduku
- 1/2 tablespoonUrad Dal/Ulundu Parupppu
- 1/2 tablespoonCumin Seeds/Jeerakam
- 1Dry Red Chilli
- 1/4 tablespoonAsafoeitda/Hing/Kaya Podi
Directions
- Step1Take the grinding ingredients in the mixer or the blender.
- Step2Add some water and make a smooth puree and set aside.
- Step3In kadai, add oil and once it is heated, add tomatoes, green chillies and saute it for 2-3 minutes till the smell of leaves and the tomatoes start breaking down.
- Step4Add salt, sugar, turmeric powder and tamarind pulp. Mix well.
- Step5Now add water and mix it well.
- Step6Add ground masala and mix well. Bring everything to boil.
- Step7Cook it on low flame for about 5 minutes.
- Step8For seasoning, heat oil in a pan and add mustard, urad dal and cumin seeds.
- Step9For sizzling, add chilli and asafoetida and combine it.
Mouth Watering Andhra Tomato Rasam is ready to serve, tastes better with hot rice
