Poornalu Recipe Andhra Style
Poornalu also called as Poornam Boorelu is one of the famous and Traditional Sweet Recipes from Andhra. This sweet is generally prepared during Vara Lakshmi Vratham and Ganesh Chaturthi. Most of them think this is one of the toughest recipes to prepare. But you believe it or not, it is so simple just like Curd Rice or Tamarind Rice. Have a look.
Ingredients
- 1 cupChana Dal
- 1 cupJaggery
- 1 teaspoonCardamom powder
- 1 cupOil
- 1 cupRice
- ½ cupUrad dal
Directions
- Step1Soak rice and urad dal in water for about 4 to 6 hours
- Step2Place them in a blender and blend into smooth thick batter
- Step3Add required salt and mix it well
- Step4Wash dal with water and add double the amount of water
- Step5Pressure cook it till 3 whistles under medium flame and off the flame
- Step6Allow it to cool for some time
- Step7Place the cooked dal and jaggery in a blender and blend them perfectly
- Step8Place a pan on heat and add the chana paste to it
- Step9Add little water to it and mix it well
- Step10Cook on low flame so that you can make balls out of it
- Step11Off the flame and add cardamom powder to it
- Step12Stir it well and cool it for some time
- Step13Make lemon size balls out of it and keep them aside on a plate
- Step14Place a pan on flame and add oil for deep frying the balls
- Step15Dip the chana dal balls in thick batter and directly place them in oil.
- Step16Fry them till they turn golden brown in color
- Step17Remove them on oil absorbent paper and continue the same process with the remaining stuff
- Step18Transfer them on serving plate and serve it after having it as naivedyam to God.
