South Indian Ven Pongal Recipe
South Indian Lentil Pudding is a very easy and comfort dish that you can prepare when you are laze around. Simple Pongal is an easy job at kitchen as well tricky too to get the exact consistency. Have a look at Ven Pongal recipe preparation process.
Ingredients
- 1 cupRaw rice
- 4 cupsWater
- Saltto taste
- 1 teaspoon choppedGinger
- 2 tablespoonsGhee
- 2 teaspoonsPepper
- 2 teaspoonsJeera
- 10 leavesCurry leaves
- 5Cashews
Directions
- Step1Wash rice and moong dal with water and keep them aside
- Step2Place a pressure cooker on flame and add ghee to it
- Step3Add moong dal and fry it for 3 to 4 minutes
- Step4Add rice to it and mix it with moong dal
- Step5Add required water and pressure cook it up to 4 whistles on medium flame
- Step6Off the flame and wait until the pressure is released from the cooker
- Step7Open the lid and mash it with spoon
- Step8Place a pan on flame and add ghee to it
- Step9Add cumin seeds and let them splutter for few seconds
- Step10Add cashew nuts and curry leaves
- Step11Add some pepper to it and off the flame
- Step12Add this tampering to the rice mixture and mix them well
- Step13The tasty and yummy Ven Pongal with Ghee is ready to serve.
Coconut Chutney is an excellent combination with this South Indian Rice or you can even have it with tasty sambar.
