Ingredients
- ¾ cupRice
- ¼ cupMoong dal
- 1 tablespoonGhee or clarified butter
- 1 teaspoonCumin seeds
- saltto taste
- 2 teaspoonsGrated ginger
- 2 ½ cupsWater
- 2Green chili
- pinchTurmeric powder
Directions
- Step1Wash dal and rice with water
- Step2Soak them in water for atleast 15 minutes
- Step3Drain the water and set aside
- Step4Place a pressure cooker on flame and add ghee to it
- Step5Add cumin seeds and let it crack for few seconds
- Step6Add chili, rice, moong dal, salt, turmeric powder, grated ginger and fry them for 2 minutes
- Step7Add required water to it and close the lid of the cooker
- Step8Pressure cook the rice mixture on medium flame for about 7 minutes and then off the flame
- Step9Wait till the pressure releases from it and then open the lid
- Step10Mix khichidi well and note that its consistency should be like runny dough
- Step11Serve it hot with Tomato Onion Raita.
