Bengali Fish Curry Recipe
Bengali Style Fish Curry also known as Doi Macch is a popular recipe in Bengal where people over there cannot imagine a meal without this dish. If you love fish, then you definitely have to try the dish. Have a look at the recipe.
Ingredients
- 3 piecesBoneless fish
- ¼ teaspoonTurmeric
- Saltto taste
- 1 teaspoonMustard seeds
- 1 teaspoonCumin seeds
- ½ cupMustard oil
- 2 teaspoonsSpice powder
- 2Green chilies
- 1Onion
- 3Garlic cloves
- 1 inchGinger
- 2Tomatoes
- ½ cupCilantro leaves
Directions
- Rub the fish pieces with turmeric and salt
- Place a pan on flame and dry roast mustard seeds and cumin seeds for about 2 minutes
- Grind them to smooth powder
- Place a pan on flame and add oil to fry the fish pieces
- When the oil is hot, add the fish pieces and fry them for 3 to 5 minutes
- Remove them on a plate and add chopped green chilies, onions
- Fry them till they turn golden brown in color
- Add grated ginger and garlic to the onions mixture
- Saute them for a minute and add the spice powder to it
- Add tomatoes to the onion mixture and cook for 5 minutes
- Add 1 ½ cup of water to it and cook on low flame
- Add the fried fish pieces to the tomato mixture and cook for about 3 minutes
- When the gravy become thick, off the flame and garnish it with cilantro.
The tasty Bengali fish curry is ready to serve. Serve the curry with hot rice or it even tastes good with Soya Bean Dosa.
