Coconut Chutney Recipe South Indian Style
Coconut Chutney is simple and easy to prepare with just few ingredients available in your kitchen. The chutney tastes good with fresh coconut. Use warm water to prepare the chutney if you are not using the fresh coconut. Follow the simple steps and know how to prepare Coconut Chutney.
Ingredients
- 1 cupGrated coconut
- ¼ cupRoasted chana dal
- 1 or 2Green chilies
- ½ inchGinger
- 2Garlic
- 6 leavesCurry leaves
- as per requiredWater
- to tasteSalt
- for temperingOil
- ½ teaspoonMustard seeds
- ½ teaspoonCumin seeds
- 1Dry chili
- 5 leaves during temperingCurry leaves
Directions
- Place one cup of grated coconut, roasted chana dal, fried green chilies, chopped ginger, garlic and curry leaves in a blender
- Add required water about half cup and grind all the ingredients in to a smooth paste
- Place a frying pan on flame and add oil for tampering
- Add mustard seeds and let them crackel for few seconds
- Add cumin seeds and red chili to it
- Add curry leaves at the end and off the flame
- Pour the tampering on grinded coconut mixture and have it with Dosa or Idli.
This is simple to prepare if you just have fresh coconut in your house as other ingredients are commonly seen in most of the houses. As coconut is called as super food and is unique combination of fatty acid, there is nothing wrong preparing the chutney every alternative day.
