South Indian Style Kakarkaya Fry Recipe
Kakaraya Fry is simple Indian food recipe that is prepared using bitter gourd and few spices. Bitter gourd is one of the vegetables that is available throughout the year. It is appreciated for its health enhancing benefits. Have a look at the recipe.
Ingredients
- ¼ kgBitter gourd
- 1Onions
- pinchTurmeric powder
- 1 teaspoonRed chili powder
- optionalSugar
- for fryingOil
- Saltto taste
- optionalTamarind pulp
Directions
- Wash the bitter gourds and wipe them with towel
- Slice them into round pieces and add turmeric, salt to it
- Leave it aside for few minutes and squeeze away the water form it
- Place a pan on flame and add oil to it
- Fry the bitter gourd pieces for 5 minutes and add finely chopped onions to it
- Fry them for 15 minutes
- Add salt and chili powder to it
- Fry them for a minute and off the flame
- Remove them in serving bowl and serve it as a side dish along with rice.
Add sugar after adding onions to the Bitter Gourd pieces if you like to have Sweet Bitter Gourd Curry. The curry goes well with Sambar Rice.
