Indian Khara Pongal Recipe
Try Tasty Khara Pongal Recipe and have it as breakfast in the morning. It is also considered as classic pooja dish in South India, which is also called as South Indian Kichdi.
Ingredients
- ½ cupRaw rice
- ¼ cupYellow moon dal
- 5Cashew nuts
- 1 ½ tablespoonto taste
- 2Oil
- 1 ½ tablespoonGhee
- 1 teaspoonFinely chopped ginger
- 1 teaspoonCumin seeds
- 1 teaspoonBlack pepper
- 5 leavesCurry leaves
Directions
- Roast moong dal and rice separately in a pan
- Fry cashew nuts in ghee and keep them aside
- Combine rice and dal. Add pinch of sugar and Pressure cook both dal, rice at a time
- Open the cooker after the pressure is completely released and mash the contents init very well when it is hot
- Heat oil and ghee
- Add chopped ginger and saute it for about 2 minutes
- Add pepper seeds, jeera seeds, curry leaves and saute them for 1 minutes
- Pour it on the rice mixture
- Add fried cashew nuts and mix everything well
- Serve it hot with ghee or Sambar.
