South Indian Special Appam Recipe
Appam is one of the most traditional recipes among South Indian Recipes. Eat Hot Appam with coconut chutney. Have a look at the recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 cupsRaw rice
- 1 cupUrad dal
- ¼ teaspoonFenu greek seeds
- Saltto taste
- 1Medium size coconut
- ¾ teaspoonCardamom powder
Directions
- Soak Urad dal in water for about 6 hours
- Place it in a grinder and add fenugreek seeds to it
- Add enough salt and grind the ingredients in to a smooth paste
- Ferment it overnight
- In the night prepare coconut milk. For this grind coconut with water and filter it
- Squeeze milk from it
- Add the milk to the batter and mix a pinch of baking soda
- Let it rest for some time
- Place a non stick pan on flame and pour some batter
- Make a circle using a ladle
- Close the lid of the pan and cook for some time till the ends turn to golden brown in color
- Sprinkle sugar on top of the appam if you want to eat it sweet
- Off the flame and remove the appam to a serving plate
- The tasty Coconut Milk Appam is ready to eat.
