Telangana Special Sakinalu Recipe
Sakinalu is a snack item prepared in Telangana to celebrate the harvest festival called Sankranthi. It is generally prepared in the northern region of Telangana.
Ingredients
- 2 cupsRaw rice
- ¼ cupSesame seeds
- 2 tablespoonsAjwain
- Oilfor frying
- Saltto taste
Directions
- Step1Wash rice and soak it in water for about 4 hours
- Step2Drain the water and dry it on thin cloth for about 30 minutes
- Step3Grind the rice to smooth powder
- Step4Taka a large bowl and add flour, ajwain, sesame seeds and salt
- Step5Mix them well
- Step6Add water slowly and make it as a smooth dough
- Step7Wet your hands and take small quantity of dough
- Step8Make them in round thin circles with finger on a white cloth
- Step9Leave them for sometime
- Step10Place a deep pan on flame and add oil to it
- Step11Once the oil is heat, leave them one by one in oil
- Step12Fry sakinalu till they become golden brown in color
- Step13Remove them from oil and place them on kitchen towel so that it absorbs excess oil
- Step14Place them on a serving plate and serve it to your guest on the special occasion of Sankranthi.
If you want to store them more days, store them in an air tight container. If you want spicy sakinalu, grind red chilies and mix it with rice flour.
