Udupi Style Idli Sambar Recipe
Try out this easy preparation method of Udipi Sambar Recipe and have it along with idli or even dosa. This is treated as an all time favorite dish for most of the Indians. As the recipe that came from a place called Udipi, it is generally called as Udipi Sambar. When you add Pumpkin to this, it really tastes yummy and try to have even with rice.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoonChana Dal
- ½ teaspoonsCoriander seeds
- 10 piecesPepper corn
- 4Dry chilies
- 1 teaspoonGrated coconut
- 4 tablespoonsOil
- ½ teaspoonsMustard seeds
- ½ teaspoonFenugreek seeds
- 1 springCurry leaves
- 4Green chilies
- 1 cupPumpkin
- ½ teaspoonTurmeric powder
- SaltTo Taste
- 1 cupTamarind juice
- 1 cupToor dal
- 1 tablespoonsCoriander leaves
Directions
- Step 1
Boil the toor dal and keep aside
- Step 2
Take a pan and add chana dal, coriander seeds, pepper corn, dry red chilies
- Step 3
Dry roast them for few seconds.
- Step 4
Put them in blender and add grated coconut to it
- Step 5
Add little water and make them to smooth paste
- Step 6
Take a pan and add oil to it
- Step 7
Add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, green chilies, pumpkin pieces to it
- Step 8
Saute it for 2 to 3 minutes and do not forget to stir occasionally
- Step 9
Add turmeric powder and salt
- Step 10
Cook for 3 minutes with lid on it
- Step 11
Add tamarind juice, little water and mix them well
- Step 12
Cook for 4 more minutes
- Step 13
Add the boiled toor dal, chana dal paste, salt and cook them for 5 minutes on low flame
- Step 14
The aroma flavors comes out the soup indicating that the recipe is ready to serve
- Step 15
Add coriander leaves at the end and off the flame
- Step 16
The Pumpkin Sambar is ready to serve for your family members
Add jiggery if you like sweet tasting sambar. The udipi style does not have onions or even garlic. Try out this Karnataka Style of Sambar and comment how it tastes with idli.
