Gujarati Style Fafda Recipe

Fafda (Crispy Gram Flour Snack) is a traditional deep fried snack of Gujarat. This snack is prepared with gram flour and various spices. This snack is crispy, crunchy, and tasty. This snack is a prefect for any occasion and can be served with a cup of hot tea. This snack is generally served with jalebi. Try this crunchy snack at your home.
Ingredients
- 2 cupsGram flour (besan)
- 1 teaspoonPapad khar/baking Soda
- ¼ teaspoonTurmeric powder
- 1 teaspoonRed chili powder
- 1 teaspoonCarom seeds (ajwain)
- 3 tablespoonsOil for deep-frying + for greasing
- Saltto taste
Directions
- In a bowl, add gram flour,baking soda, turmeric powder, chili powder, carom seeds, salt and oil and mix it well.
- Add sufficient water and knead into soft dough and transfer the dough onto a worktop and knead it well.
- Transfer into a bowl, cover it with muslin cloth and keep it aside for 30 minutes and after 30 min, divide the dough into small portions.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadhai and grease the worktop with some oil, shape each portion of dough into a cylinder shape and stretch into long strips, press with your palm.
- Trim the edges with a knife and deep-fry each strip in hot oil till golden in color and crisp and drain on an absorbent paper.
- Serve it with jalebi and enjoy its flavor and taste.
