Phirni is a traditional North Indian sweet dish made with rice, milk, and sugar. In this recipe, there is the slight twist, mango pulp is added for more flavor. This dessert has a creamy texture, sweet aroma and an amazing color. This innovative dessert will be a hit at any parties. This tempting dessert can be also served as a dessert after any meal.
Ingredients
- 2 tbspbasmati rice
- waterfor soaking
- 1 litermilk, full cream
- ¼ cupsugar
- ¼ tspcardamom powder / elaichi powder
- 2 tbspsaffron milk
- ½ cupmango pulp
- fewdry fruits, chopped
Directions
- In a bowl, soak 2 tbsp of basmati rice in enough water and keep it for 30 minutes and discard the water and blend the rice to a coarse paste and keep it aside.
- In a pan, add 1 liter milk and cook on a low flame for 10 min and cook the milk thickens
- Then add the coarse rice paste and stir continuously for 5 minutes and see that they no lumps.
- Cook on low flame for 5 min till the rice gets cooked completely and then add ¼ cup of sugar and 2 tbsp saffron milk.
- Mix it nicely and add cardamom powder and once done, switch off the flame and add mango pulp and mix it nicely and garnish with chopped nuts.
- Serve it chill and enjoy its flavors and aroma.
