Tasty Bread Kofta Curry Recipe

Bread Kofta Curry is an innovative twist to the normal Kofta curry. The fried bread dumplings are cooked in spicy based gravy. This dish is very easy to prepare and it make a scrumptious dish for a weekend lunch or dinner. This is tempting, flavorful, and spicy dish. This dish is prefect when you want to have something innovative and tasty.
Ingredients
For The Bread Kofta
- 6Fresh bread slices
- 5 tbspFresh curds (dahi)
- 2 tbspPlain flour (maida)
- 2 tbspBesan (Bengal gram flour)
- 2 tbspFinely chopped coriander (dhania)
- 2 tspFinely chopped green chilies
- A Pinch OfBaking Soda
- SaltTo Taste
- OilFor Deep-Frying
Other Ingredients
- 1 cupBottle gourd (doodhi / lauki) cubes
- 3 tbspOil
- 1/2 cupBoiled and peeled baby potatoes, cut into halves vertically
- 1/2 cupGrated onions
- 1/4 tspTurmeric powder (haldi)
- 2 tbspCoriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
- 2 tspChili powder
- 2 tbspFresh curd (dahi)
- 3/4 cupFresh tomato pulp
- SaltTo Taste
- 1/2 cupBoiled green peas
For The Garnish
- 1 tbspFinely chopped coriander (dhania)
Directions
For The Bread Koftas
- Remove the crust from all the bread slices and crumble the bread slices in a bowl, add the curd, plain flour, besan, coriander, green chilies, baking soda and salt and mix it well.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and roll each portion into a small ball.
- Heat the oil in a kadhai and deep-fry, a few koftas at a time and fry till they are golden brown in color from all the sides.
- Drain on an absorbent paper and keep it aside.
How To Proceed
- In a deep pan add the bottle gourd and 1 cup of water and cook on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes or till the bottle gourd is soft and stir occasionally and once done, switch off the flame.
- As the mixture cools down and blend to a smooth paste and keep it aside.
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a deep non-stick kadhai, add the potatoes and fry on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes or till they are light brown in colour and transfer it to a plate and keep it aside.
- In a kadhai, heat 1 tbsp of oil, add the onions and fry on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add the turmeric powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder, chili powder and 2 tbsp of water and fry on a medium flame for 1 minute.
- Add the fresh curd and tomato pulp, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes and stir occasionally.
- Add the bottle gourd paste, ½ cup of water, salt, green peas and sauteed potatoes, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes and stir occasionally.
- Just before serving, add the fried bread koftas, mix it lightly and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Garnished with coriander leaves and serve it ghee rice.
