Hyderabadi Osmania Biscuits Recipe

Osmania Biscuits are a popular bakery biscuits of Hyderabad. These biscuits are colorful, tasty, crunchy and rich in taste. Each bit of these biscuits gives a wonderful mouth-feel and has a wonderful aroma. Homemade Osmania biscuits are more tasty and hygienic. These biscuits can be easily prepared in your home within few minutes. It tastes best with a cup of hot tea.
Ingredients
- 1/4 tspSaffron (kesar) strands
- 1/4 cupMilk
- 1 1/2 cupsPlain Flour (maida)
- 1/4 tspBaking Powder
- 2 tbspCustard Powder
- 2 tbspMilk powder
- 5 tbspButter
- 6 tbspPowdered sugar
- A Pinch OfSalt
- For rollingPlain flour (maida)
Directions
- In a bowl add the saffron and milk, mix it well and keep it aside.
- In a bowl the plain flour, baking powder, custard powder, milk powder and salt and keep it aside.
- In a bowl add the butter and sugar and mix it using a spatula.
- Add the saffron-milk mixture to butter mixture and mix it very well with the help of a spatula.
- Add the plain flour-custard mixture, mix it well and knead into a soft dough and cover the dough using a cling warp and keep it in refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Sprinkle little plain flour on a clean, dry surface and roll the dough into 275 mm. (11’) diameter circle and with help of a cookie cutter, cut into 50 mm. (2”) diameter roundels.
- Arrange the biscuits on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 25 minutes.
- Once done, remove it from the oven and cool it and store in an airtight container and enjoy whenever you want to.
