For the dough Heat the oil in a kadhai, add the peanuts and fry on a slow flame for 4 to 5 minutes or till they turn light pink in color and stir continuously. Add the chana dal, urad dal, curry leaves, asafoetida and turmeric powder, mix it well and fry on a medium flame for a minute, while stirring continuously. Add the tamarind pulp, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes or until the mixture thickens. Add the prepared masala, cooked rice, and salt and toss it gently and switch off the flame and serve it hot with a pickle. South Indian Style Tamarind Rice Recipe

Tamarind Rice is one of the best, delicious South Indian Rice dish preparation. This dish has a great combination of different flavors and taste. This is perfect lunch or dinner. This dish is very easy to prepare with just a few ingredients.

Ingredients

For The Masala

  • 1 1/2 tspchana dal (split Bengal gram)
  • 1 1/2 tspurad dal (split black lentils)
  • 1 1/2 tspcoriander (dhania) seeds
  • 3 to 4whole dry Kashmiri red chilies, broken into pieces

Directions

For the masala

  • Add the prepared masala, cooked rice, and salt and toss it gently and switch off the flame and serve it hot with a pickle.
