Masala Chana Dal is a popular Indian main course recipe. This easy lunch/dinner recipe is rich in protein and can be served wit any Indian meal. It's a simple yet delicious recipe which you can easily prepare at your home with very few ingredients. Try this scrumptious dal recipe at your home.
Ingredients
- 1 cupchana dal (split Bengal gram), soaked for 3 hours and drained
- 1 tbspoil
- 3/4 cupfinely chopped onions
- 1 cupfresh tomato pulp
- 1/4 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
- 1 tspfinely chopped green chilies
- 1/2 tspchili powder
- saltto taste
- 1 tbspcoriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
For The Garnish
- 2 tbspfinely chopped coriander (dhania)
Directions
- Heat the oil in a pressure cooker, add the onions and fry on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
- Add the tomato pulp, turmeric powder, green chilies, chili powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder and salt, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes and stir occasionally.
- Add the soaked chana dal and 1½ cups of water, mix it well and pressure cook for 25 min, switch off the flame and allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it hot with roti or rice.
