Tasty and Easy Toor Dal Recipe

Toor Dal is the famous Indian dal dish which can be easily made with few ingredients. This dal is extremely delicious dish because of its unique taste and texture. This dal is perfect on busy days and loved by all. Try this recipe at your home.
Ingredients
- 1 cupToor dal
- 1 mediumsize finely chopped onion
- 1finely chopped tomato
- 12-15cloves of garlic, fine chopped
- 1.5 inchginger piece, fine chopped
- 1green chili, chopped
- Fewcurry leaves
- Fewwhole cloves of garlic
- 1/2 tspturmeric powder (haldi) for boiling dal
- 1 tspcoriander powder (dhania powder) for boiling dal
- 1 tspmustard seeds (rai)
- 1 tspcumin seeds (jeera)
- 1bay leaf (tej patta)
- 1whole red chili
- 1/2 tspred chili powder
- 1/2 tspcoriander powder
- Pinch ofasafoetida (hing)
- 1 tbspcrushed dried fenugreek (kasoori methi)
- Freshcoriander leaves, finely chopped
- 2 tbspcooking oil
Directions
- In a bowl soak 1 cup toor dal in water for 20 minutes and after 20 min, in a pressure cooker add the soaked dal, 2 cups of water, few cloves of garlic, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, and salt and cook for 20.
- When dal is completely boiled, switch off the flame and mash the dal with the help of a hand blender and keep it aside.
- Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a deep pan and add 1 tsp mustard seeds and 1 tsp cumin seeds. and then add 1 bay leaf and 1 whole dried red chili and fry for a few second on low flame.
- Add finely chopped onion, chopped green chili, chopped garlic and chopped ginger. and cook it on low flame, stir it and then add few curry leaves and cook for 2-3 min on a low flame.
- Add chopped tomato and mix it well and add red chili powder, pinch of asafoetida and coriander powder and fry for few minutes on low flame,
- Then add the boiled dal and 1 cup of water and add salt and cook on a low flame for 2-3 more minutes, add crushed kasoori methi and fine chopped fresh coriander leaves and mix it nicely and serve it hot with jeera rice.
