Masoor Dal with Spinach Recipe

Masoor Dal with Spinach is a nutritious and wholesome dish that is rich in protein and minerals. This recipe is made from spinach that is mixed along with boiled Masoor dal (split red lentil) and spices which make a wonderful combination. This dal is perfect with for lunch or dinner and tastes best with hot rice.
Ingredients
- 1 cupMasoor dal (split red lentil)
- 1 cupchopped spinach (palak)
- 4 tspoil
- 1 tspcumin seeds (jeera)
- 1/2 cupfinely chopped onions
- 1/2 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
- 2 tspdried mango powder (amchur)
- 1/2 cupfinely chopped tomatoes
- Saltto taste
- 3/4 tspchili powder
To Be blend Into A Smooth Garlic-ginger-green Chili Paste
- 6garlic (lehsun) cloves
- 25of ginger (adrak)
- 4 to 5green chilies
Directions
- Pour 1½ cups of water in a pressure cooker, add the Masoor dal, mix it well and pressure cook for 25 min and allow the steam to escape before opening the lid and keep it aside.
- Heat the oil in a kadhai, add the cumin seeds, mix well and fry on a medium flame for a few second.
- Add the onions and fry on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes and add the cooked masoor dal, spinach, turmeric powder, dry mango powder, blended garlic- ginger-green chili paste, tomatoes and salt, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes and stir occasionally.
- Add ¼ cup of water and chili powder, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes and stir occasionally and switch off the flame.
- Serve it hot with rice.
