Urad Dal Khichdi Recipe

Urad Dal Khichdi is an easy, quick one pot nutritious meal. It is a very famous dish in South India. This khichdi is good for kid and help to grain weight and strength. Let’s follow this recipe.
Ingredients
- ¾ cupUrad dal (Black lentil)
- 1 cupRice
- ½ inchGinger piece
- 1 pieceGreen chili
- a pinchHing (Asafoetida)
- Saltto taste
- few dropsRefined oil
For seasoning
- 1 pieceWhole red chili
- 2 tablespoonGhee
- a pinchHing (Asafoetida)
Directions
- Wash the urad dal and rice separately and keep it aside.
- In a pressure cooker and add 1 cup of boiling water and add the washed dal, salt, oil, crushed ginger and hing and green chili and pressure cook for 25 min.
- Then add the washed rice and 1 cup of water and mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 10-12 min and cook until the rice and the dal is cooked and do not over cook it and switch off the flame.
- In a small pan and heat the ghee and add hing and whole red chili and fry it and switch off the flame and pour this seasoning to the rice-dal mixture and mix it nicely
- Serve it hot with curd and papad.
