Easy and Spicy Mixed Dal Recipe

Spicy Mixed Dal is a popular Indian dal cooked with various dal and flavor with different spices.This delicious, nourishing dal dish is perfect with any meal. This dal has an interesting flavor and also a healthy dish. It is perfect for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 tbspyellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
- 1 tbspmasoor dal (split red lentil)
- 1 tbspurad dal (split black lentils)
- 1 tbspchana dal (split bengal gram)
- 1 tbsptoovar (arhar) dal
- saltto taste
- 1/2 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
- 2 tbspghee
- 1 tspcumin seeds (jeera)
- 1/2 cupfinely chopped onions
- 2 tspginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
- 1/2 cupfinely chopped tomatoes
- 1/2 tspgaram masala
- 1 tspchili powder
- 2 tspcoriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
- 1/2 cupbeaten fresh curd (dahi)
- 1 tbspfinely chopped coriander (dhania)
Directions
- In a bowl soak yellow moong dal, masoor dal, urad dal, chana dal, and toovar dal for 1 hour and then drain the water from the dals.
- In a pressure cooker add the dals, 2 cups of water, salt, and turmeric powder, mix it well and pressure cook for 30 min and allow the steam to escape before opening the lid and keep it aside.
- Heat ghee in a deep non-stick kadhai and add the cumin seeds and when the seeds crackle, add onions and ginger-garlic paste and fry on a medium flame for 1 minute.
- Add the tomatoes and 2 tbsp of water, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
- Add the garam masala, chili powder and coriander-cumin seeds powder, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
- Add curd and coriander, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes and stir continuously.
- Add the cooked dals, mix it well and cook on a low flame for 2 minutes and stir occasionally.
- Switch off the flame and serve it hot roti or parathas.
