Simple Masala Upma Recipe

Masala Upma is a traditional South Indian breakfast dish that is made with rava(semolina) and seasoned with different spices. It is a very simple dish that can be prepared with minimal ingredients. Try this recipe at your home.
Ingredients
- 3 cupsroasted semolina (rava)
- 1/4 cupchopped onions
- 4chopped green chilies
- 3chopped potatoes
- 2 tbspoil
- 1/2 tspcoriander (dhania) seeds powder
- 1/2 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
- 1/2 tspgaram masala
- 1/2 tspchili powder
- 4 cupswater
- saltto taste
- 1 tspghee
- 1/2 cupchopped coriander (dhania)
Directions
- Heat the oil in a kadhai, add the onions, green chilies and salt and fry for a few minutes.
- Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and chili powder and fry for a minute.
- Add 4 cups of water, add potatoes and cover with the lid and stir occasionally and cook on a low flame till the potatoes are well boiled and add salt if needed.
- Add the semolina and cook on a high flame and stir occasionally.
- Remove from the flame and pour 1 tsp of ghee on top of the upma and garnish with coriander leaves.
- Cover with the lid( so that the aroma stay intact) and just before serving and open the lid and serve it hot.
