Tasty Chana Dal Pulao Recipe

Chana Dal Pulao is one of the most protein-rich dishes. This rice dish is easy, nutritious, and healthy. It goes well for a quick lunch or in the kid’s lunch box. It can be enjoyed without any side dish. Follow this tasty recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cupBasmati rice
- 1/2 cupChana dal (Bengal Gram Dal)
- 3Onions, thinly sliced
- 2Tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2Dry red chilies
- 2Green Chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoonGaram masala powder, (or pulao masala)
- 1 teaspoonTurmeric powder (Haldi)
- 2 teaspoonLemon juice
- 1 teaspoonCumin seeds
- 1 tablespoonCooking oil
- Saltto taste
Directions
- Wash and soak rice for 30 minutes and also clean, wash and soak the chana dal in water for at least 1 hour.
- Heat oil in pressure cooker on a medium flame and add cumin seeds and saute for few seconds till they turn brown in color.
- Add the dry red chilies, green chilies and fry for a minute and add sliced onions and fry till they turn golden brown in color.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook till tomato turn soft and mushy and add salt, turmeric powder, and garam masala and fry for few seconds.
- Now drain the soaked rice and chana dal and add the rice and dal in the pressure cooker along with 2 cups of water and mix it well.
- Cover the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on a medium flame for 25 min and turn off the flame and let the steam escape naturally from the pressure cooker.
- Open the lid of the pressure cooker, add the lemon juice and mix it with a spoon.
- Serve it hot.
