Instant Whole Wheat Flour Idli Recipe
Idli is one of the most common and staple breakfast dish across South India. It is very healthy dish especially when one sick and needs strength and energy. A diabetic friendly recipe since it is low in fat and less in calories Try this Instant Whole Wheat Flour Idli recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cupYogurt (Curd)
- 1 cupWhole Wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoonEnos fruit salt
- 1 teaspoonSesame oil, to grease the Idli Plates
- Saltto taste
For seasoning
- 2 teaspoonsGhee
- 1/2 teaspoonChana dal (Bengal Gram Dal), split
- 1/2 teaspoonCumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoonWhole Black Pepper Corns, crushed
- 5Cashew nuts, broken roughly
- 1/2 teaspoonMustard seeds
- 1sprig Curry leaves
- 1Green Chili, finely chopped
Directions
- Heat a pan on a low flame and dry roast the wheat flour till they turn fragrant and continuously roast the flour and be careful that the flour does not get burn and transfer the flour to a vessel and keep it aside to cool.
- Heat the pan with ghee and add chana dal, black pepper, cumin seeds, pepper, cashew nuts, mustard seed, curry leaves and allow them to roast and crackle and keep it aside.
- In a bowl add yogurt and 1 cup of water and mix it nicely and pour this mixture to the flour and use a hand whisk and from a batter and add more water if require and make a thick batter and add the prepared tempering to the batter and mix it well.
- Add salt ( just a little) and allow the batter to rest for 20-30 minutes and in the meantime, grease the Idli plates with oil and preheat the steamer.
- Then add 1/2 teaspoon of eno fruit salt and mix the batter till it is light and fluffy.
- Spoon the batter into the greased plate and steam the Idlis for 15 -20 minutes until done.
- Once done, turn off the flame and allow it to rest for 5 minutes and de- mold the Idli from the plates and serve it hot with sambar.
