Easy Lobia Biryani Recipe
Lobia Biryani is an easy flavorful recipe made with Lobia and simple spices. This biryani is perfect for lunch or dinner. This recipe is healthy from the other biryani recipes. This dish is cooked with just a few ingredients. Try this recipe.
Ingredients
- 3/4 CupChawli/Lobia (black eyed beans)
- 2 CupsBasmati Rice
- 1 LargeOnion
- 1 LargeTomatoes
- 3Green Chili
- 1/2 tbspGinger-Garlic Paste
- 3/4 tspRed Chili Powder
- 1/2 tspCoriander Seeds Powder
- 1/4 tspTurmeric Powder
- 1/2 tspGaram Masala Powder
- 2 CupsCoconut Milk
- saltTo Taste
- 1.5 CupsWater
- 2 tbspChopped Coriander Leaves
For Tadka/Tempering
- 2 tbspOil/Ghee
- 1/2 tspCumin Seeds
- 1/2 tspCaraway Seeds
- 1/2 tspFennel Seeds
- 1Bay Leaf
- 1-inchCinnamon pieces
- 1Star Anise
- 1Green Cardamom
- 2Cloves
Directions
- Soak lobia/chawli in enough water for 8 hours or overnight and drain the water from the lobia and keep it aside.
- Wash and soak rice for 30 minutes and slice onion, chop chili, tomatoes, coriander leaves.
- In a pressure cooker heat, oil or ghee add cumin, caraway seeds, fennel seeds, whole garam masala and saute until the seeds cracks, add ginger-garlic paste and saute until golden brown in color.
- Add onion, and cook until onion becomes soft and lobia and saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Add red chili, coriander, turmeric powders and give a good stir, add tomato and cook for a minute.
- Add rice and gently stir, saute for 2 minutes and add coconut milk, water, salt, garam masala, coriander leaves and mix it well.
- Pressure cook for 25 min and once pressure is released gently mix the biryani with a fork.
- Serve it hot with any raita of your choice.
Variations
- You can add any vegetables of your choice.
- You can replace coconut milk with water or use 1:1 of water and coconut milk.
- Don't add too much water or coconut milk use as mention or a little less or else the rice will get mashed.
