Methi Missi Roti Recipe
Methi Missi Roti is a healthy and traditional Indian flat bread which combines the goodness of chickpea flour (besan), wheat flour, and fenugreek (methi). This roti is a good source of protein and nutrients. Let’s follow this tasty and healthy recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cupbesan (Bengal gram flour/chickpea flour)
- 3/4 cupplain flour (maida)
- 3/4 cupwhole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
- 1/2 cupfinely chopped onions
- 1 1/2 tspfinely chopped green chilies
- 1/2 tspcarom seeds (ajwain)
- 1/4 cupchopped fenugreek (methi) leaves
- 1 tbspghee
- saltto taste
- wholewheat flour (gehun ka atta) for rolling
- gheefor cooking
Directions
- In a bowl add besan, plain flour, wheat flour, chopped onions, green chili, carom seeds, chopped methi leaves, and salt and mix it nicely.
- Knead into a soft dough by using enough warm water and divide the dough into equal portions.
- Roll out each portion into a thin circle of about 125 mm. (5") diameter with the help of a little whole wheat flour.
- Heat a non-stick tawa (griddle) and brush a little ghee and fry till it turns golden brown in color from both the sides.
- Serve the hot roti with any pickle of your choice.
Notes
- Besan is rich in fiber, iron, potassium, manganese, copper, zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, folate, vitamin B-6, and thiamine.
- Methi leaves is rich in vitamins A, iron, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium and potassium.
- Wheat is rich in vitamin B6, thiamin, folate magnesium, zinc, and manganese.
