Tasty Moong Dal Toast Recipe

Truly unique, this yellow moong dal toast is sure to become a hot favorite with anybody who tastes it. This toast has a very wonderful texture that is thoroughly crisp from outside and slightly spongy from inside.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cupyellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
- 1 1/2 tbsproughly chopped green chilies
- 1/4 cupfinely chopped cabbage
- 1/4 cupfinely chopped onions
- 1/4 tsppinch asafoetida (hing)
- 1 tbspbesan (bengal gram flour)
- 1/2 tspbaking soda
- 1/2 tsplemon juice
- 1 tbspfinely chopped coriander (dhania)
- saltto taste
- 10bread slices
- oilfor greasing and cooking
Directions
- In a bowl soak yellow moong dal and enough water and keep it aside for 2 hours and after 2 hours drain the water from the dal.
- In a blender add soaked yellow moong dal, ¼ cup of water, and green chilies and blend to a coarse mixture.
- Transfer the mixture into a deep bowl, add the cabbage, onions, asafoetida, besan, baking soda, lemon juice, coriander, and salt and mix it well and divide the mixture into equal portions.
- Place a bread slice on a clean, dry surface and spread a portion of the dal mixture evenly over it.
- Heat a non-stick tawa (griddle) and grease it with oil and place each open bread on the tawa (griddle) with the topping side facing downwards.
- Cook it by using oil and cook till it turns golden brown in color from both the sides and cut each toast into 2 diagonally.
- Serve this toast hot with sauce.
