Fish Tikka Achari Recipe

Ingredients
- 2-inchSurmai Fish pieces 400 grams
- 2 tablespoonsYogurt
- Saltto taste
- 1 teaspoonGarlic paste
- 1 teaspoonGinger paste
- 1 teaspoonTurmeric powder
- 2 teaspoonsKashmiri red chili powder
- 1 teaspoonMustard seeds
- 1 teaspoonFennel seeds (saunf)
- 1 teaspoonOnion seeds (kalonji)
- 1/2 teaspoonFenugreek seeds (methi dana)
- 1/2 teaspoonBlack salt (kala namak)
- 2 tablespoonsMustard oil
- 1 cupYogurt whisked
- 4 tablespoonsButter melted
Directions
- In a bowl add fish pieces, lemon juice, salt, garlic paste, ginger paste, turmeric powder, and Kashmiri red chili powder and mix it well.
- Heat a pan and dry roast the mustard seeds, fennel seeds, onion seeds and fenugreek seeds and add black salt and crush them with a mortar and pestle.
- Heat the mustard oil in a pan to smoking point, remove from heat and keep it aside to cool.
- Add yogurt to the fish along with the crushed spices and mix it well and marinate it for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark
- Add the cooled mustard oil to the marinated fish and mix it well.
- Place the fish on a greased rack in an oven tray and brush with butter and cook in the preheated oven for 10- 15 min or till the fish gets properly cooked.
- Serve hot with green chutney.

Tip
- If you do not have an oven, you can skewer the fish pieces on satay sticks and cook on a non-stick tawa.
