Delicious Potato Basket Chaat Recipe
Potato Basket Chaat is a simple, delicious recipe that you can enjoy on special occasion. This chaat is tasty, spicy, and tangy. This easy to make and you can certainly enjoy it anytime. Let’s follow this recipe.
Ingredients
For the potato baskets
- 2 cupsthickly grated potatoes ( use old potatoes then the new once)
- oilfor deep-frying
For the filling
- 2 cupsbean sprouts
- 1/2 cupred or yellow capsicum, finely chopped
- 1/4 tsppepper powder
- 1/2 tspchili powder
- 1/4 tspdried ginger powder (soonth)
- 1/4 tspsugar
- 1 tspdried mango powder (amchur)
- 1/2 tsproasted cumin seeds (jeera) powder
- 2 tbspchopped coriander (dhania)
- 1 tspbutter
- saltto taste
Other ingredients
- 1/2 cupgreen chutney
For the Green Chutney
- 2 cupschopped mint leaves (phudina)
- 1 cupchopped coriander (dhania)
- 1 largeonion, sliced
- 1 to 2 tbsplemon juice
- 1 tbspsugar
- 4 to 6green chilies
- saltto taste
Directions
For the potato baskets
- Soak the grated potatoes in cold water for 10 to 15 minutes and drain and wash in running water for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Drain and wipe it dry using a dry absorbent cloth and divide the grated potatoes into equal portions.
- Place each portion of the grated potatoes on a 37 mm. (1½") diameter metal tea strainer and top with a second strainer.
- Hold firmly and deep fry in oil on a medium flame till the basket is golden brown and remove the strainer from the oil, invert the strainer and tap lightly to un-mold the basket and keep it aside.
For the Green Chutney
- In a blender add chopped mint leaves, coriander, onion, lemon juice, salt, green chili, and sugar and blend into a smooth paste and keep it aside.
For the filling
- Heat the butter and add pepper powder, chili powder, ginger powder, sugar and saute for a few second.
- Add the bean sprouts, capsicum, amchur, cumin seed powder, coriander, and salt and cook for about a minute and keep it aside.
How to proceed
- Put 3 to 4 tablespoons of the filling into each potato basket and top with a spoonful of the green chutney.
- Arrange on a serving plate and serve it.
Tips
- Old potatoes or chip/ wafer potatoes are required to make this crisp potato baskets.
