Andhra Style Drumstick Curry Recipe

A spicy and tangy drumstick curry recipe. This curry is delicious, flavorful, and juicy. Drumsticks contain nutritional benefits and cure many ailments. It is also rich in proteins, minerals, and vitamins. Serve this curries with steamed rice.
Ingredients
- 2-3Drumsticks
- 15-20Curry leaves
- To tasteSalt
- 2 tablespoonsOil
- 1/2 teaspoonMustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoonSplit black gram skinless (dhuli urad dal-)
- 1/4 teaspoonTurmeric powder
- 2 mediumOnions chopped
- 1 1/2 inch piecesGinger roughly chopped
- 6-8 clovesGarlic
- 2-3Dried red chilies
- 2 tablespoonsRoasted peanuts
- 2 teaspoonsTamarind pulp
Directions
- Scrape the skin of the drumsticks and cut into 1-inch pieces and heat 2-3 cups water in a deep nonstick pan, add turmeric powder, salt and drumstick pieces and cover with a lid and cook it and drain the water from the drumstick and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in deep nonstick pan and add mustard seeds, black gram, curry leaves and when the seeds splutter, add onions and saute until lightly browned.
- Grind together ginger, garlic, red chilies, peanuts with a little water to a fine paste
- Add the drumstick to the pan and add the ground masala and mix it well.
- Add salt and mix it and cover with a lid and cook on low heat.
- Add a little water and cover with a lid and cook till the drumsticks are completely soft.
- Add tamarind pulp and mix it well and serve it hot.
