Tasty Ghugni Dried Yellow Pea Curry Recipe
Ghugni ( Dried Yellow Pea Curry) is a very popular street food of Kolkata. The ghugni is made from dried yellow peas. It tastes yummy and also very easy to prepare at home within few minutes. It is served as a breakfast dish with Indian fried bread( puri). Let’s try this preparation.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cupDried Yellow Peas soaked and drained and boiled
- OilOil
- 1 mediumOnion
- 1/2 teaspoonCumin seeds
- 1Bay leaf
- 1 teaspoonGinger finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoonTurmeric powder
- 1 mediumTomato chopped
- 2 teaspoonsRoasted cumin powder
- 1/4 cupFresh coconut sliced
- Saltto taste
- 2Green chilies slit
- 1/2 teaspoonGaram masala powder
Directions
- Chop the onions and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a nonstick pan and add cumin seeds, bay leaf, and chopped onion and saute until lightly browned.
- Add ginger, turmeric powder, tomato, and a little water and mix it and saute till tomato becomes pulpy.
- Add yellow peas and mix it well and add ¼ cup water and salt and add cumin powder and coconut slices and mix it well.
- Add green chilies, garam masala powder, and mix it
- Cover with the lid and cook on medium flame for 5 minutes and serve hot with puri.
