Tasty Matar Paneer Recipe
Matar Paneer is a delicious combination of soft paneer and healthy green pea in spicy and tangy gravy. This authentic curry is little spicy and lip smacking. This dish is generally served in the main course with rice and roti. The recipe of Matar Paneer will surely be a delight to your taste buds.
Ingredients
For onion-tomato puree:
- 2 tspoil
- 1onion, finely chopped
- 3garlic cloves
- 1 inchginge
- 2tomatoes, finely chopped
- 4cashews
Other ingredients:
- 1-2 tbspoil
- ½ tspjeera / cumin seeds
- 1 inchcinnamon stick, dalchini
- 1bay leaf / tej patta
- ¾ tspkashmiri chili powder
- ¼ tspturmeric powder / haldi
- saltto taste
- ¾ tspcoriander powder
- ¼ tspcumin powder / jeera powder
- ½ - 1 tspsugar
- ½ tspgaram masala powder
- 1 cupwater, add to adjust consistency
- 2 tbspcurd / yogurt, fresh
- ½ cuppeas, fresh / frozen
- 10pieces paneer / cottage cheese
- 1 tspkasoori methi / dry fenugreek leaves, crushed
- fewcoriander leaves, chopped
Directions
onion-tomato paste recipe:
- In a kadhai pour oil and add chopped onions, ginger, and garlic, and saute on medium flame till onions turn slightly golden brown.
- Add chopped tomatoes and saute till they turn soft and add few cashews and blend to smooth paste.
matar paneer recipe:
- In a kadhai add oil and add jeera, cinnamon, bay leaf, and add chili powder and turmeric directly to oil.
- Add blended onion - tomato paste and fry it nicely and add coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, sugar, and salt and fry it.
- Add 1 cup of water add 2 tbsp of curd and mix it well
- Add peas and add paneer cubes and cover with a lid and cook on a low flame for 10 min.
- Add crushed methi and coriander leaves.
- Serve it hot.
