Aloo Tikki Frankie Recipe
Aloo Tikki Frankie is a delicious wrap that has just potatoes tikki, some veggies and some spices that are wrapped in a roti. It is nutritious and makes a perfect kids school lunch box or a weeknight dinner. Let’s follow this recipe.
Ingredients
For making a tortilla wrap
- ¾ cupall purpose flour or maida
- ¼ cupwheat flour
- ¼ teaspoonbaking powder
- 2 tablespoonsolive oil
- saltto taste
- as requiredwarm water
Aloo Tikki
- 3 mediumpotatoes, boiled, peeled and mashed
- ½ teaspooncumin powder
- ¾ - 1 teaspoonsalt
- 1-inchginger piece grated
- ½ teaspoonamchur powder or dry mango powder
- ½ teaspooncoriander powder
- ½ teaspoonchaat masala powder
- ½ teaspoonChili powder
- 2green chili finely chopped
- 1 tablespooncoriander leaves finely chopped
- 2 - 3 tablespoonscorn flour or rice flour or bread crumbs
- oilfor shallow frying
For making aloo tikki roll
- as requiredgreen chutney
- as requiredgreen chili sauce
- as neededtomato sauce
- as neededonion sliced
- as neededcarrot sliced
- as neededcapsicum sliced
- two pinchessalt
- as requiredlemon juice
Directions
For making tortilla wrap
- In a bowl add all-purpose flour, wheat flour, salt, and baking powder and add olive oil and mix it well.
- Add water little by little and knead soft and firm dough and cover and leave it aside for 10 - 15 minutes and divide into equal sized balls.
- Dust the balls with all purpose flour and roll it into discs and heat a pan or tawa or a griddle and cook the tortillas on medium flame till it is evenly cooked on both the sides and keep them aside.
Making aloo tikki
- Rinse potatoes well and pressure cook them for 20 min and peel the skin and mash them.
- Add chopped green chilies, red chili powder, cumin powder, salt, grated ginger, and coriander leaves into a bowl and mix it well.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and roll it into balls and flatten each ball into ½-inch thick patties.
- Heat oil in a pan or tawa, gently place the patties and shallow fry them over medium flame and when one side gets cooked well, flip it to the other side and cook on the other side too.
- Transfer it to another plate and keep it aside.
Aloo Tikki Frankie
- Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan or tawa and when the oil is hot enough, add sliced onion, carrots, and saute well for a few seconds.
- Take each tikki break them into two or three pieces add these pieces along with the onion and saute for a few more seconds and turn off the flame.
- On a plate, place one roti or tortilla and place the onion aloo tikki mixture on one side of the roll and over that, sprinkle some green chutney, green chili sauce, tomato sauce. Sprinkle some lemon juice on top of it and sprinkle some chaat masala also on top of it.
- Roll tightly to cover and you can secure the roll with the help of a toothpick or roll them in an aluminum foil.
- Serve aloo tikki roll hot.
