Healthy Flaxseed Burfi Recipe
Flaxseed Burfi is a famous Indian dessert. These sweets are highly nutritious and are a great treat for diabetic people. Keeping your loved one’s health in mind try this simple recipe they will love it surely.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cupgolden flax seed powder or meal
- 1/2 cupcoarsely ground walnut
- 1/2 cupcoarsely ground almonds
- 1/2 cupcoarsely ground cashews
- 1 teaspooncrushed cardamom about 8 cardamoms
- 1 cupsugar
- 1/4 cupwater
Directions
- Grease the 8-inch plate and set it aside.
- Dry roast flax seed, over medium flame for 1 minute and add walnut, almond and cashew powder and dry roast for 2 minutes and stir continuously and take care that you do not over roast the nuts as nuts will become oily.
- Turn off the flame and add cardamom mix it well and take out in a bowl and set it aside.
- In a saucepan boil the sugar and water together over medium flame and after sugar syrup come to boil and cook on a low flame for 1-2 mins
- To check the syrup put a drop over a dry surface and check with the finger and syrup should be just sticky.
- Turn off the flame and add the nuts mixture to the syrup.
- Mix it well and quickly spread over the greased plate by pressing from all sides and keep 1/4 inches in thickness and the edges clean.
- Cool for a minute and cut them in about 1-1/2 inch square shape.
- Keep them in the closed container and Flax Seed Burfi has a long shelf life.
Flax seed meal and flour provide a very good source of fiber that can lower cholesterol levels in people with atherosclerosis.
