In a bowl soak sliced dates and 1 cup of hot water and cover it with a lid and keep it aside for 30 minutes and after 30 min drain the water from the dates and keep it aside. In another bowl add butter and condensed milk and whisk it using an electric beater till smooth. Add plain flour, baking powder, and baking soda to the butter mixture and mix it well using a spatula. Add soaked dates, 1/2 cup walnuts, vanilla essence and coffee-water mixture and mix it well by using a spatula. Grease a bread loaf tin with butter and pour the batter into a greased bread loaf tin of 200 mm. (8”) and tap it lightly. Sprinkle the 1/4 cup of walnuts evenly over it and bake it in a pre-heated oven at 180c (360f) for 55 minutes. Cut the cake into 13 mm. ( 1/2“) slices and serve or store in an air-tight container.
