Simple Aloo Jeera Recipe
Aloo Jeera is a classic Indian recipe which is a staple dish for lunch and dinner. Aloo Jeera is a very simple dry curry prepared with potatoes seasoned with cumin seed. This side dish recipe can be served with rice or roti. Try this recipe.
Ingredients
- 5medium size potatoes boiled peeled and cut into bite size cubes, this will make about 4 cups of cubes potatoes
- 2 tablespoonsoil
- 1-1/2 teaspooncumin seeds (jeera)
- 1/8 teaspoonasafoetida (hing)
- 1 tablespoonginger thinly sliced
- 2green chilies seeded and sliced length wise
- 1-1/2 teaspooncrushed coriander (dhania)
- 1/4 teaspoonturmeric (haldi)
- 1/4 teaspoonred chili powder
- 1 teaspoonsalt adjust to taste
- 1 teaspoonmango powder (amchoor)
- 2 tablespoonchopped cilantro (hara dhania) to garnish
Directions
- Heat oil in a frying pan on medium-high flame and add cumin seeds and asafoetida after seeds crack add ginger and green chilies and stir for few seconds.
- Reduce the flame and add coriander, turmeric, chili powder, mango powder, and salt. Stir for few seconds and add potatoes and mix it well with the masala.
- Stir fry for 4-5 minutes and see that the potatoes should be coated with spices.
- Turn off the flame and add cilantro and mix it well and serve it hot.
