Healthy Corn Bhel Recipe
Corn Bhel Recipe is a very healthy and quick snack that you can prepare within few minutes. Kids love sweet corn so try this recipe for your kids. This is quick, simple, flavorful and spicy snack recipe.
Ingredients
For The Baked Sev - Makes 1 1/2 Cups
- 1 cupbesan (Bengal gram flour)
- 1/4 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
- 1/2 tspchili powder
- 2 tsplemon juice
- 1/4 tspasafoetida (hing)
- to tastesalt
- 1/4 tspoil for greasing
Other Ingredients
- 1 tspoil
- 1/2 cupchopped onions
- 1/2 cupchopped capsicum
- 1 cupboiled sweet corn kernels
- 1/2 cupchopped tomatoes
- 1/2 cupchopped unpeeled apples
- 1/4 cuporange segments (optional)
- 1/4 cupchopped coriander (dhania)
- a pinchsugar
- 1 tbsplemon juice
- to tastesalt
For The Topping
- 1/2 cupbaked sev, recipe above
For Serving
- 4lemon wedges
Directions
For the baked sev
- In a bowl add besan, turmeric powder, chili powder, lemon juice, hing, and salt and pour enough water, mix it well and knead into semi-stiff dough.
- Lightly grease your hands with oil and shape the dough into a roll.
- Fill the dough into the sev mold and press out thin strands onto a greased baking tray.
- Bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°c (400°f) for 8 to 10 minutes or till it becomes crisp and turns light brown in color.
- Cool completely, crush it and keep it aside.
How to proceed
- Heat oil in a broad non-stick pan, add onions and saute on a medium flame till they turn translucent.
- Sprinkle a little water to avoid the onions from burning.
- Add the capsicum and corn and saute on a medium flame for another minute.
- Remove from the flame, add all the remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Serve immediately and topped with baked sev and lemon wedges.
Tips
Ensure you press out very thin sev so that it bakes and turns crisper evenly.
