Tasty Palak Raita Recipe
Palak (Spinach)Raita is a refreshing curd based dish made with spinach and curd. Spinach and curd are always a very nutritious combination. Spinach is loaded with nutrients and curd is a good source of calcium, protein and essential pro-bio tics. Let’s follow this tasty recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 cupsYogurt (Curd)
- 2 cupsSpinach Leaves (Palak), finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoonRed chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoonCumin powder, roasted
- 1/2 teaspoonSugar, optional
- 1/2 teaspoonWhole Black Pepper Corns, coarsely pounded
- Saltto taste
Ingredients for Seasoning (Alternative Flavor)
- 1/2 teaspoonCooking oil
- 1/4 teaspoonMustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoonWhite Urad Dal (Split)
- 1sprig Curry leaves
Directions
- Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan and add cumin seeds and allow it to crackle.
- Add chopped spinach and saute on high heat until tender and most of the water is evaporated and set it aside and allow the spinach to cool down completely.
- In a bowl whisk yogurt, cumin powder, red chili powder, black pepper powder, and salt.
- Add spinach mixture to the whisked yogurt and transfer to a serving dish and refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.
For the seasoning
- Heat oil in a tadka pan and add mustard seed, white urad daland curry leaves and allow it to roast and crackle and once it roasts and crackles, turn off the heat.
- Pour the seasoning onto the raita and serve it with Parathas or as a side dish along with your main course meal.
