Green Moong Dal and Vegetable Idli Recipe
Green Moong Dal and Vegetable Idli is a healthy breakfast recipe. As these idlis are made with moong dal instead of rice, they are ideal for diabetic people. Green moong dal is a good source of protein, vitamins and minerals and vegetables are loaded with nutrients.
Ingredients
- 1 cupgreen moong dal (split green gram)
- 1/4 cupgrated carrot
- 1/4 cupgrated cabbage
- 1/4 cupurad dal (split black lentils)
- 1/2 tspfenugreek (methi) seeds
- saltto taste
- 1/2 tbspginger-green chili paste
- 2 tbspfinely chopped coriander (dhania)
Directions
- Step1In a bowl add green moong dal, urad dal, and fenugreek seeds and soak in enough water for 2 hours and keep it aside and drain it well.
- Step2Blend green moong dal, urad dal and fenugreek seeds in a mixer along with approx. 1 cup of water till smooth.
- Step3Transfer the mixture into a deep bowl, add salt and mix it well.
- Step4Cover with a lid and keep it aside to ferment for 4 hours and once fermented, add ginger-green chili paste and coriander and mix it well.
- Step5Grease the idli mold with oil and pour a spoonful of the batter into greased idli molds and steam in a steamer for 12 minutes.
- Step6Cool slightly and de-mould the idlis.
- Step7Serve it hot with sambar.
