Chickpea Burger Recipe
Chickpea Burger is a hearty, healthy burger that has great texture from the chickpeas and great flavor from the spices. High in fiber, low in fat, this tasty burger is loved by all. Let’s follow this recipe.
Ingredients
- 6burger buns, halved (easily available in the market)
- honeymustard sauce, as per your need and taste (easily available in the market)
- 2tomatoes, sliced
- 1cucumber, sliced
- 1onion, thinly sliced
- a fewlettuce leaves
For the chickpea patties
- 1 cupchickpeas, soaked for 8 hours and then cooked until soft
- 2large potatoes, boiled
- an inchpiece of ginger, grated
- 1 largeonion finely chopped
- 2green chilies, finely chopped
- a smallbunch of mint leaves, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoonroasted cumin powder
- 1 teaspoonchaat masala powder
- 3 tablespoonsgram flour
- juicefrom one lemon
- saltto taste
- oilfor cooking
Directions
- Soak the chickpea in enough water for 8 hours and boil it until soft and drain the water from the chickpea and keep it aside
- Also, boil the potatoes and peel the skin and cut into cubes.
- In a blender add chickpea, cumin powder, chat masala, gram masala, lemon juice, chopped mint leaves, onion, salt, and potato and blend until it forms a dough like consistency.
- Transfer the blended chickpea patty mixture into a large bowl and adjust with salt and spices according to your taste.
- Divide the patty mixture into 6 equal portions and shape them into round ball and lightly flatten them with your fingers and keep them aside.
- Preheat a skillet on medium flame and if you are using a cast iron skillet, make sure to grease the skillet with oil nicely or else the patties will stick in the pan.
- Place the chickpea patties on the greased skillet, drizzle some oil and cook on a medium heat until brown in color and crisp on both sides.
- Cut the burger buns in half and toast the buns on the skillet with a little butter
- Place the toasted buns on a flat surface and place the lettuce leaves on the bottom half of the bun, then top it with tomatoes, cucumber, onions and carefully place the cooked chickpea patties and a drizzle of honey mustard sauce and place the other half the bun over it.
- Serve this burger with a glass of chill milkshake.
