Pomfret Fish in Mustard Sauce Recipe
Pomfret Fish in Mustard Sauce is an authentic dish, the fish is cooked in a spicy paste of mustard. Mustard oil is used for an authentic taste and flavor. You can serve this fish with hot steaming rice.
Ingredients
- 1Pomfret fish
- 2 tbspYellow mustard seeds
- 5-6Garlic cloves
- 3Green chilies
- 1 tspTurmeric powder
- Saltas per taste
- 1tspBlack cumin seeds
- 2tbspMustard oil
- for garnishCoriander leaves
Directions
- Wash the fish thoroughly with water and cut it horizontally into equal pieces.
- Grind the mustard seeds, garlic, and two green chilies together with little water into a thick paste
- Marinate the fish pieces with salt and turmeric powder and keep it aside
- Heat one tablespoon of oil in a pan and fry the fish pieces till they turn golden brown in color and once done, transfer the pieces to a plate and keep it aside.
- In a pan, add a tablespoon of oil and add black cumin seeds and allow it to splutter
- Add the mustard paste, salt, and turmeric powder. Cook for about 4-5 minutes.
- Add water and the fish piece and mix it well.
- Allow the gravy to boil for about 2-3 minutes and then turn off the flame.
- Pour one teaspoon of mustard oil over the fish and garnish with green chili and coriander leaves.
- Pomfret in mustard sauce is ready to be served and it is a perfect fish recipe to go with steamed rice.

Tips

- As pomfret is a sea fish, it is salty so adjust salt according to it.
