Easy Rajma Chawal Recipe
Rajma Chawal is a simple, yet delicious meal. Rajma is rich in iron and protein and when it is combined with rice which is a great source of carbohydrates and it becomes a wholesome meal. It is a great meal for kids lunch box too as it is one of the favorite dishes among the kids. Let’s follow this easy recipe.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cuprajma (kidney beans) , soaked overnight and drained
- 3 cupscooked rice (chawal) or leftover rice (chawal)
- 1 tbspoil
- 1/2 tspcumin seeds (jeera)
- 1/4 tspasafoetida (hing)
- 1/2 cupsliced onions
- 1/2 tspginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
- 1/2 cupchopped tomatoes
- 1/4 tspturmeric powder (haldi)
- 1/2 tspchili powder
- 1 tspcoriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
- saltto taste
- 1 tbspfinely chopped coriander (dhania)
Directions
- Heat the oil in a pressure cooker and add the cumin seeds and asafoetida and saute on a medium flame for a few seconds.
- Add onions and ginger-garlic paste and saute on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder and salt, mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes and stir occasionally.
- Add rajma and 1 cup of water, mix well and pressure cook for 35 min.
- Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
- Add the cooked rice, mix it gently and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes and stir occasionally.
- Add the coriander and mix it well.
- Serve it.
