Tasty Spinach Pakoras Recipe
Spinach Pakoras are great as an appetizer, a tasty compliment for your evening tea and a spicy delicious snack anytime in the day. Let’s follow this yummy recipe.
Ingredients
For Batter
- ½ cupgram flour (besan)
- 1 tablespooncorn starch (arrowroot powder)
- ½ teaspoonsalt adjust to taste
- 1/2 teaspooncumin seeds (jeera)
- 1/4 teaspoonblack pepper
- 1/8 teaspoonasafoetida (hing)
- 3/4 cupwater
- 30fresh spinach leaves
- Oilto fry
Also need
Directions
- In a bowl add besan, corn starch, black pepper, cumin seeds, asafoetida, and salt.
- Add the water slowly to make a smooth batter (batter should be in thin consistency).
- Heat the oil in a frying pan on medium high heat.
- The frying pan should have at least 1 ½ inch of oil.
- Dip the spinach leaf into the batter one at a time, making sure it is covered by the batter completely and wipe it from the side of the batter bowl make sure that the batter is evenly spread over spinach.
- Now slowly drop into the frying pan.
- Fry the pakoras in small batches and cook for 2-30min.
- Turn them occasionally and fry the pakoras until golden brown from both the sides.
- The crispy, delicious pakoras are now ready to serve.
- They can be stored for several days in airtight container.
Tips
- If oil is too hot then the pakoras will not be crispy; if oil is not hot enough, pakoras will be greasy.
Serving Suggestions
- Spinach pakoras can be served as chips with your choice of dipping sauce.
- Spinach crisp can also be served as papdi chaat.
